Flower Boy Next Door

A sweet soul saver, this drama is.

"If Rapunzel never left the tower, there would be no story".

True, that is.
This drama implies a lot on leaving your comfort zone, trying new things in life and enjoy the little things in life.

It started out simple with a modern-like rapunzel, Dok Mi, who was not really stuck in a tower but who locked herself in her small apartment, away from the wonders of the world.
She was afraid of the world and it's content, is all. You couldn't blame her, really. She had a bad experience during high school where she was betrayed by her only friend then hated by the whole school BECAUSE of that friend.
That b*tch.
Dok Mi was accused of having an affair with their english teacher. That friend of her accused her just because she was jealous that Dok Mi had the teacher's attention. But seriously, none of this was her fault.
Dok Mi was a very talented writer at her age. She wrote so beautifully that the teacher only wanted the best for her and her future. He recommended her a competition to join in that could make her career, also helped her with the competition by giving books and materials to use as a helping material and all. And I guess that b*tch was jealous because she didn't have anything to brag about.
Occasionally, when people get accused, they would at least stand up for themselves and everything but Dok Mi...She was a timid girl, with no one to support her as her ONLY friend turned her back on her and the teacher who lastly made the decision to take a step back and just watch without doing anything. It was really hard for her, I can tell.
She even tried to kill herself once but decided not to. Good job, kid. Don't do it. It ain't worth it.

That was what made her so scared of the world. Who wouldn't though? Well at least, it'll change pretty much the most of you if it doesn't do the same as to Dok Mi.

Well now, in the present, she has a job -regardless of the locking herself up in her apartment and stuff- as an editor for someone famous's biography. Even so, she doesn't go to office much. Only for major meetings and sending her editing scripts and all.

And that's where it all starts.

Everyday was the same for Dok Mi. She wakes up, looks out the window and enjoy the little ray of sunshine that she gets from her windows. But one thing that was different from most of the people is that, she has her crush living right across from her apartment. Like say, at the next building, but a better apartment, though, a really-refurbished-kind of apartment.
He is a doctor. Same as Dok Mi, he wakes up, looks out the window, enjoys the sunshine for a bit and then starts the day with the typical stuff.
That's when Dok Mi joins in. They do everything together.
well, at least, Dok Mi was doing everything Doc is doing. He brushes his teeth, she follows, he does a few runs on the treadmill and she jogs around the house for a bit. He takes a shower then has breakfast, she does it all to. He then plays with his dog, Blackie, which Dok Mi doesn't have, she even waves a little saying things like "how are you, Blackie?" or "Did you sleep well, Blackie?" from her apartment as if she was talking to him.
It's a miracle though, that Doc doesn't notice anything that Dok Mi does when she notices everything about her. Their apartment isn't THAT far apart, if you look at it.
I guess that's the power of love, huh? The one who loves will notice everything about that person they love when the other who doesn't, will know nothing. Oh how I feel this.

You may be wondering why Dok Mi likes this guy, Doc?
Well, that's for you to find out. Watch it, it's cute.

Now when does the prince charming comes in, you may want to ask?
Right now, he comes in.

Now this boy, I may not consider him as a prince charming. But the Mayor of Funville. He is such a cheeky boy, naughty and playful whenever and wherever. Well, that, and annoying.
His name is Enrique. He is a relative of Doc. Yeah, now you know where this drama is leading to? Okay good.
This Enrique dude, he is a boy genius. Like GAME genius. He is quite known for the fact that he can create games that suits every human genre. For that, he is always wanted in a game company.
He lives in Spain, with his Spain parents. Why? What's wrong with his Korean parents? Guess.
In Spain, he's quite the famous gamer and game creator. He was offered a job at a really famous game centre, to become one of the great game creators, yet he chose to run away for the moment, to Korea, to have some fun, away from work.
Here, in Korea, he still has some jobs to do, like producing his own biography and promote his game and stuff. But then, he has to find a place to stay, right? And where can he go when he already has a relative, the oh-so-charming Doc?
That's where Dok Mi and Enrique met.
That's a yay for me!

They met unnaturally, if I could say.
Without any knock on the door, without hints or a few mere clues.
It just happened. Judging from Enrique's look there, you know he's indicating Dok Mi, as he caught her staring at him when she peeked out of her window. And guess what happens after. He came for her xD
He came to her house, half-naked with his boxers and his panda head-warmer and some slippers. He came knocking and kicking at her door...
...which turns us to this guy.

Oh Jin Rak...
...a webtoon artist, who spends a lot of time in his apartment, who is actually a run-away son of a rich family, who is crushing on Dok Mi.
Yeah, i know, this story's twist is unbelievable.

Now this dude's story, is a funny one. I love him as much as I love Enrique. But as naughty and as cheeky as Enrique is, this guy's charming part is his attention. His attention to someone, his devotion to them, his cute, quirky acts of love is that catches our hearts. Adorable, he is.
To give you more understanding,

Yes, those stick-it-note that Dok Mi is flipping through, are the ones Jin Rak gives EVERY FREAKIN DAY. Every day, when the milk man comes and drops of a carton of milk by her door, Jin Rak always gets up first, draws something that shows his heart to her on a stick-it-note, and stick it to her carton. 5-10 minutes or so, Dok Mi comes out to get her carton of milk, finding that stick-it-note, then putting it away with the rest of it.
Yes, rest of it. He's been giving her all of those for 3 years now, ever since they moved in and him finding her cute somehow, soon had a crush on her.
If you look at it closely, those stick-it-notes has their own meaning to it, if you flip it all like Dok Mi is doing in that picture.
Haaaaa that sweet bast*rd Jin Rak.

Well, now that's that, there are your main characters, ladies and gentleman.
Innocent, timid Dok Mi, annoying, cute Enrique, and sweet, charming Jin Rak.

To tell you the rest, it'll be too long and boring for you as this drama is really cute and interesting in its own way.

All I can say is that this drama is really a gust of happiness to a lonely little heart that needs comfort and love. All the sweet little things that Jin Rak does for Dok Mi, the naughty yet charming meet-ups with Enrique, and all the nice and warm things that happens in this webtoon-based drama will surely melt your heart to the ground.
